Purpose & Scope: 
The purpose of writing this procedure is to ensure that all testing, measuring and inspection equipment are calibrated which may affect quality of the product. This procedure applies in the Lyra Garment & Shoe division.

2.0       Responsible

 

            Maintenance Incharge / Production Managers

 

3.0       Procedure

 

            3.1       Identification

 

3.1.1   All inspection, testing & measuring equipment used in the Shoe & Garment division will be identified with unique identification number i.e. numeric number 1 to 999.

 

3.1.2     The identification number will be indicated on all equipment by suitable means i.e. engraving, embossing, affixing of sticker, ink pen or any other suitable indicator. Production Manager is responsible for the same.

 

3.1.3     If it is not possible to indicate the identification number on equipment, and then it will be indicated on adjacent wall/machine etc.

 

3.1.4     All those equipment that do not require calibration will be identified with a sticker “CNR” (Calibration not required).

 

3.2     Master calibration List

 

3.2.1     Production Manager shoes & garment will prepare master calibration list (MNT/04/502 & MNT/04/202) of equipment to be calibrated periodically.

 

3.2.2     This master calibration list will ensure periodic calibration of the equipment as well as the location, identification number, ranges, tolerance level, frequency of the calibration etc.

 

3.3     External Calibration of Master Equipment

 

3.3.1     Out side calibration service agencies will be approved by the CEO and before approval the CEO will ensure that calibration agency has appropriate traceable standard.

3.3.2     Production Manager will send the equipment to calibration agency in proper packages to avoid any potential damages.

 

3.3.3     Upon receiving the equipment from calibration agency, record of calibration will be maintained by Production Manager in the calibration register MNT/04/503 & MNT/04/203.

 

3.3.4     Production Manager will ensure that the calibration certificate is provided by the calibration agency for the equipment.

 

3.3.5     Production Manager will maintain records of these certificates.

 

3.4     In-house Calibration of Measuring Tapes

 

3.4.1     Production Manager will carry out in-house calibration of measuring tapes.

 

3.4.2     Measurement tape will be calibrated quarterly.

 

3.4.3     Record of calibration is maintained.
